Getting Ready for Your Pet Session
Your pet session is all about celebrating your dog’s personality – from calm and cuddly to wild and goofy. These tips will help your dog feel safe, happy and ready for photos, so you can relax and enjoy the experience together.
Before the session
- Give your dog a normal walk earlier in the day so they’re not too full of energy.
- Avoid a huge, exhausting walk right before the session – we still want some spark.
- Feed them as usual, but keep a few favourite treats aside for during the shoot.
- If they’re anxious in new places, bring something that smells like home (blanket or toy).
Grooming
- Brush them the day before or morning of the session.
- Wipe eyes and mouth just before we start if needed.
- If they’re having a professional groom, book it a few days before so their coat looks natural.
What to bring
- A secure collar and lead (and a backup if you have one).
- Plenty of small, non‑crumbly treats they absolutely love.
- Their favourite toy or ball to help them relax and play.
- Poo bags, a water bottle and bowl, and a small towel if they might get wet or muddy.
During the session
- Expect your dog to be curious and distracted at first – that’s completely normal.
- We’ll take breaks, let them sniff and explore, and work at their pace.
- You’ll be close by to help call them, reward them and give cuddles.
- Don’t worry if they don’t “sit” perfectly – I’m here to capture their real personality.
